Musical Futures is an approach to teaching and learning music in the classroom that has hands on student music performance at its core. It is a new and imaginative way of engaging and sustaining young people, aged 11-18, in music activities and engages whole classes of students in practical music making. It brings students and their passion for music together into the classroom brings non-formal teaching and informal learning into the classroom and introduces teachers to new roles as mentors, coaches and guides. Musical Futures is predicated on the belief that music learning works best for young students when they are involved in making music themselves and provides peer learning opportunities as students make music in bands with friends.
